Basalt Mining plant

Basalt is the ideal materials to mix asphalt mixture. Basalt ores, featuring abrasive resistance, low hydroscopicity, high insulativity, compressive property, low crushing value, erosion resistance, high adhesiveness of asphalt, etc., have gained international acceptance. Therefore, basalt is largely applied to constructions of railway, highway, and airfield runway.

Mining Process of Basalt

Environmental Protection in Mining of Basalt

In every process, dust is expelled unsystematically. In this technology, dust is mainly produced in perforation, blasting, hydraulic crushing, loading, dusting of quarry ground and dust discharge in transportation. Water-spraying is adopted to prevent the emission of dust, which can reduce the influence on surrounding air environment. For dust raised by wheel transport, measures like improving road condition, regulation speed, watering cart equipped along the road can be used to effectively control it. Thus it will have little influence on villages along the road and the environment.

The noise source in production process is noise of blasting and plants like bulldozer, gadder, hydraulic quartering hammer, excavator, truck, etc. Normally, noise source is in the range of 80~110dB. Through measures like control of working time and working powder of equipments, explosive loading of blasting, noise of quarry will have smaller influence on surrounding environment. When transport vehicles go through villages along the road, taking measures like speed control, improving road condition around villages, no tooting can effectively reduce influence traffic noise on life of residents.

The main waste water of quarry is domestic sewage, which is discharged into septic-tank (no ejectment outside) and made as water of green moisturizing in plant.

The stone deposit from which basalt can be mined is in low-lying area, the lowest mining level is below local erosion basis. Underground water of quarry, with quite watery and bits of fracture water, isn’t so rich. Water filling in diggings mainly is rainfall, so exploiting activity slightly influenced by quantity of underground water. Once mined, stones will be carried away and won’t be stocked in quarry for a long time. Therefore, the stock condition of waste rocks has small influence on environment of underground water.

Owing to the need of building construction, a few trees will be removed, so will ground vegetation disappear, meanwhile, lamination of various vehicles, trample of workers, stack of soil-rock will have a serious impact on vegetation: not only biodiversity of this district, but also reduced quantity of part plants of some species. During the digging, dust is raised, and fall on blade surface of plants, which will block stoma, and deeply influence photosynthesis of plants, finally has influence on ecosystem. After the mining of ores, some measures are adopted to protect ecosystem and recover the destructive ecosystem.

Major measures are: rectify and improve the abrupt side of waste quarry, recover landscape to flat; backfill low-lying area, make sure depth of pit bottom earth no less than 1m. Secondly, earth up the quarry, start recovery of vegetation, and start virescence of ground and vertical scar. The development of the item has small influence on local plantage and vegetation types, which won’t cause extinction of floristics and types of plants. With the end of mining, through recovering construction, vegetation is recovered gradually which can make up for loss of plants diversity.
